Laser hair removal should not be performed if the person has:

1. Pregnancy

• Not enough safety data; elective cosmetic procedures are typically avoided during pregnancy.
   

2. Active infections or skin conditions in the area

• Examples: Herpes simplex, bacterial or fungal infections, eczema, psoriasis, open wounds, or rashes.
   

3. History of keloid scarring

• Laser treatment may trigger excessive scar tissue formation.
   

4. Photosensitive medications or disorders

• Drugs like isotretinoin (Accutane), doxycycline, tetracycline.
   
• Conditions like lupus or porphyria increase risk of burns or severe skin reactions.
   

5. Recent tanning or sunburn

• Increases risk of burns, hyperpigmentation, and hypopigmentation.

• Face (e.g. upper lip, chin):
  6–12 sessions
  Facial hair is often hormonal and can be more resistant to treatment.
   
• Body (e.g. underarms, bikini, legs, arms):
  6–8 sessions on average
  Body hair usually responds better and more quickly than facial hair.
   
• Back or chest:
  6–10 sessions, sometimes more
  Hair can be thicker and denser.

• Face: Every 4–6 weeks
• Body: Every 6–8 weeks
   

Spacing is important to target hair in the active growth phase (anagen phase). No hair yet? No Laser!
